Roig Arena Unveils New Audiovisual Creations With a Light and Digital Art Show Paying Tribute to Valencia

With the start of the new events season in September, Roig Arena has renewed its audiovisual designs, transforming its architecture into a tribute to Valencia and the people who bring it to life. Through ten creations developed in 3D, the venue offers a journey through some of the symbols, landscapes, crafts and traditions that form part of Valencian identity.

The experience begins outside, where the 8,600 ceramic slats covering the façade light up in coordination with El Ojo, the 300 m² outdoor screen, creating a visual spectacle seamlessly integrated into the architecture itself. This combination of technology, light, ceramics and digital content makes Roig Arena a unique venue in Europe in the way it uses its façade as an artistic canvas, bringing digital art closer to those walking around the venue and making the city itself part of the experience.

The tribute continues inside through the scoreboard, the highest-resolution display of its kind in Europe, the 76-metre-long videowall, the ribbon display and the venue’s screens, which cover a combined surface area of 1,700 m², bringing the same visual narrative to visitors throughout Roig Arena.

Ten creations celebrating who we are

The project combines the spectacular possibilities of technology with an artistic perspective on Valencia. 3D animation, the treatment of light and the use of scale, depth and movement offer a contemporary reinterpretation of elements deeply rooted in our culture.

Fire captures the creative power of the Fallas, a unique celebration recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and one of Valencia’s most universally recognised symbols. Fire represents transformation, emotion and rebirth; the final moment of a tradition that combines art, creativity, satire, popular culture and collective endeavour throughout the year.

The dragon evokes Valencia’s strength and protective spirit. Its figure connects with our historical imagination and, through digital art, is transformed into an expression of energy, courage and pride in our roots.

Music celebrates a culture that in Valencia is learned from an early age and built through community. Bands and music societies are an integral part of life in our towns and cities and embody education, discipline, listening and collective effort. Music, one of the most deeply rooted cultural expressions in the Comunitat Valenciana, finds in Roig Arena a major stage from which to reach new audiences and continue growing.

The Mediterranean and Valencian light represent much more than a landscape. They are part of our character and our way of connecting with the world. A light that has inspired artists and creators, and a Mediterranean that for centuries has been a place of encounter, exchange and openness.

L’Albufera and the redolins pay tribute to a culture born alongside the water and passed down from generation to generation. The symbols used to identify these fishing spots allowed them to be recognised even by those who could not read. Today, they evoke the memory of the lake, the ingenuity of its people and respect for traditional crafts that form part of our identity.

This connection between landscape, tradition and gastronomy continues at Poble Nou, the restaurant where Miguel Martí brings Valencian flavours, produce and know-how to the table. It is a tribute to a cuisine in which we recognise our roots and also our way of understanding hospitality: gathering around a table, sharing and enjoying together.

As a final counterpoint, one of the most surprising creations introduces robots as a symbol of innovation and Valencia’s forward-looking spirit. The image connects tradition and cutting-edge technology, representing ingenuity, creativity and the ability to transform ideas into new realities.

Ceramics, a tribute built into the venue itself

Valencian identity is not only represented in the images featured in the show; it is also embedded in the building itself. The ceramic slats enveloping the façade, manufactured by Pamesa Grupo Empresarial, a Founding Partner of Roig Arena, showcase the expertise, industrial capacity and innovation of a sector closely linked to the Comunitat Valenciana. By day, the ceramic pieces define the architectural personality of the venue and interact with the Mediterranean light. By night, they become an active part of the show, serving as the canvas on which light and audiovisual creations transform the perception of the building.

With this project, Roig Arena shares with Valencia an experience that celebrates its heritage and, above all, the people who keep it alive and continue to transform it.
