La Oreja de Van Gogh Reunites with 15,000 Fans at Roig Arena

La Oreja de Van Gogh made their debut tonight at Roig Arena in front of nearly 15,000 people, performing the first of two sold-out shows scheduled at the venue in Valencia. The event was marked by the long-awaited reunion of Valencian fans with Amaia Montero as the band's lead singer—a return welcomed with a warm standing ovation and intense emotion right from the start of the night.
The evening began with a performance by Enol, who opened the concert. Shortly after nine o'clock, the most anticipated moment arrived. The members of La Oreja de Van Gogh took their positions on stage, and seconds later, Amaia Montero emerged from an elevating platform to applause from the audience, kicking off the show.
The setlist focused primarily on the greatest hits from the era when Amaia Montero fronted the band. Fittingly, the concert opened with one of the most iconic tracks of that time, "20 de enero," which was sung along to from the very first notes by the thousands in attendance.
From the album Dile al sol, the record that brought the group into the music scene in 1998, songs like "El 28" and "Cuéntame al oído" were performed. However, much of the setlist relied on two of the band's most successful works: El viaje de Copperpot—from which anthems like "Cuídate," "París," and "La Playa" were heard—and Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida, represented by tracks such as "Puedes contar conmigo," "Vestido azul," and the indispensable "Rosas."
After nearly two hours, the concert concluded with "Muñeca de trapo" (from the album Guapa) and "Puedes contar conmigo," bringing an end to a performance filled with nostalgia, emotion, and great memories for several generations of fans. Tomorrow, La Oreja de Van Gogh will return to the Roig Arena stage for their second show with the Valencian audience, gathering another 15,000 people for a concert of timeless hits.
