The Waterboys will perform their only concert in Spain in 2026, and the chosen venue is Roig Arena. The band will bring their “The Fisherman’s Blues Revue” tour to Roig Arena on September 3. With this concert, The Waterboys aim to celebrate and explore the music of one of their most iconic albums: "Fisherman’s Blues" (1988). The announcement comes just days before their two sold-out shows at Roig Arena Auditorium on November 28 and December 5.

For the occasion, legendary violinist Steve Wickham will rejoin the band, along with American singer-songwriter Steve Earle, who will perform as part of this Revue—singing his own songs and adding vocals, guitar, and mandolin to The Waterboys’ tracks. Earle stated: “I only ever wanted to be in three bands: The Rolling Stones, NRBQ, and The Waterboys.” The lineup will also include Brother Paul (organ), Famous James (piano), Aongus Ralston (bass), Eamon Ferris (drums), and Norwegian musician Roar Øien on lap steel.

Regarding the era this concert will revive, band leader Mike Scott said: “It was a transformative time for The Waterboys, and it’s always thrilling to dive back into that spirit and see what happens. We’ll play as an eight-piece band, including the great Steve Earle, whom I’ve wanted to collaborate with for years. He’ll bring his American roots and incredible songs to the party. These promise to be some of the best shows in Waterboys history.”

The Waterboys will also release the triple album "Atlantic Rain" on July 17, 2026 (via Chrysalis Records), featuring unreleased material from the "Fisherman’s Blues" sessions and alternate takes of songs that made it onto the album. Mike Scott commented: “We made so much music back then, hundreds and hundreds of individual recordings, and I’m still discovering magical things. This collection contains the best I’ve found so far; the music is as good as the original album.”

Tickets for The Waterboys’ concert at Roig Arena go on sale Monday, December 1, at 1 p.m., on our website.
