Suede Unleash Their Magnetism at Roig Arena's Auditorio Hall

  • Nearly 2,000 fans gathered to witness the 90s anthems that defined a generation.

  • “Beautiful Ones,” “So Young,” and “Dancing With The Europeans” were among the highlights of the British band’s setlist.

British icons Suede performed tonight at the Roig Arena’s Auditorio Hall before a crowd of nearly 2,000 people, in a concert that sold out months in advance. Preceded by the Scottish indie rock band Swim School, the group led by Brett Anderson delivered a vibrant journey through every stage of their career.

The British band wasted no time, storming the Roig Arena stage with the post-punk urgency of "She Still Leads Me On," a clear statement of intent from their more recent era. Without a moment’s pause, the venue erupted as they chained together "Trash" and "Animal Nitrate"—two anthems that defined the sound of a generation and proved that the chemistry between Richard Oakes' guitar and Brett Anderson's magnetic charisma remains intact. The sophisticated aggression of "Pigs" and the infectious rhythm of "Lazy" kept the energy high throughout the crowd.

Intimacy and Recovered Gems

Following the psychedelia of "June Rain," Anderson stripped away the noise to offer a piano version of the legendary "Stay Together," a true gift for the die-hard fans. After regaining the electric pulse with the power of "Filmstar" and "Can't Get Enough," the band slowed the pace once more with a poignant rendition of "Heroine" and the nocturnal atmosphere of "Saturday Night." A peak moment of the night followed shortly after with "The Wild Ones."

The final stretch was a display of well-executed nostalgia and overflowing energy. Following the rarity "Flow" (a hidden gem from the Coming Up B-sides), Suede unleashed a triple threat from their debut album: "So Young," "Metal Mickey," and the omnipresent "Beautiful Ones." After a brief exit, the band returned for an encore, closing the night with “Dancing With The Europeans.” The performance made it clear that Suede remains one of the most charismatic, elegant, and influential bands in contemporary Britpop.
