The Myth of David Bowie Shines at the Roig Arena Auditorio

  • Several Valencian musicians from the 1980s music scene pay tribute to the British icon.

  • Songs such as “Life on Mars?”, “Starman,” and “Space Oddity” were among the highlights of the concert.

The Roig Arena Auditorio has hosted a concert paying tribute to David Bowie to mark the tenth anniversary of his passing. Renowned Valencian musicians, whose careers include key Spanish pop and rock bands such as Presuntos Implicados, Seguridad Social, Glamour, Comité Cisne, Falsa Pasión, Sunken Screens, and Licence to Blow, took to the stage of the Valencia venue to celebrate the work and legacy of the British artist.

Ten years after his death, Bowie’s figure continues to serve as a cross‑generational reference in contemporary music. His ability to redefine aesthetic codes, explore new sonic languages, and construct complex artistic identities places him among the most influential creators of the last half‑century.

The concert’s repertoire revisited some of his most iconic songs, including “Starman,” “Life on Mars?” and “Space Oddity,” offering an interpretation that went beyond mere tribute to highlight the enduring relevance of his legacy. The show also incorporated a strong visual component, with a live artistic intervention by Jesús Arrúe, known as the painter of gazes and the creator of Spain’s first officially pardoned graffiti, dedicated to Bowie.

The musicians who took part in this musical tribute to David Bowie were Salva Ortiz, Adolfo Barberá, Pepe Mallent, Honorio Barranco, Peter Sebastian, Jorge Moreno, Vicente Montesinos, and José Luis Macías.
