Il Volo Closes Its International Tour With An Emotional Concert At Roig Arena
The Italian trio composed of Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone performed both their own songs and renditions of classic opera anthems such as Nessun Dorma.
The concert lasted two hours and even included time for Christmas carols.
Their music has taken them around the world for the past two years, and Roig Arena was the chosen venue for Il Volo to put the finishing touch on their international tour. The Italian trio, formed by Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone, performed at the Valencian venue accompanied by conductor Daniel Abad, who led the symphonic concert. For about two hours, Il Volo revisited the most outstanding songs from their repertoire and sang some opera classics such as O Sole Mio and Il Mondo.
The Italian phenomenon, known for blending traditional lyricism with contemporary pop, opened their first concert in Valencia with Nelle tue mani (or in English, Now We Are Free), the main theme from the film Gladiator, followed by Grande Amore, the song with which they competed in the Eurovision final in 2015, earning third place. During the concert, they also performed tracks from their latest album, Ad Astra, including songs like Opera and Capolavoro.
The recital also featured solo performances: Ignazio Boschetto sang The Winner Takes It All, Gianluca Ginoble delivered The Music of the Night, and Piero Barone performed E lucevan le stelle. In keeping with the season, there was also time for carols such as Adeste Fideles and Oh Holy Night. The concert, interspersed with moments of interaction with the audience, concluded with a powerful rendition of Nessun Dorma and an epic version of Grande Amore.
