5 Seconds of Summer Conquer Valencia In An Unforgettable Debut at Roig Arena

  • The Australian band’s concert is part of their international tour “Everyone’s A Star!”.

  • “Telephone Busy”, “Bad Omens” and “She Looks So Perfect” are among the songs performed during the show.

Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, also known as 5SOS, experienced their long-awaited debut in Valencia tonight in front of more than 6,500 fans, who gathered at Roig Arena to enjoy a vibrant, emotional concert full of connection with the audience. During the night, the group — who had not performed in Spain for three years — revisited the biggest hits of their career while also presenting songs from their new album.

The concert kicked off with Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood arriving inside a limousine placed on the Roig Arena stage, a striking stage element that minutes later transformed into the platform from which Irwin led the drums for much of the show. “NOT OK” and “No1 Obsession” opened the set, followed quickly by “Teeth”, one of their most iconic tracks, sung along to from start to finish. The journey through their latest release, Everyone’s A Star!, continued with songs such as “Boyband” and “Telephone Busy”.

Structured in several acts, the show stood out for its strong fan interaction and participation: from a humorous PowerPoint presentation in which the band ironically recapped their day in Valencia, to a live vote to choose the surprise song they would perform minutes later. One of the most entertaining moments came when a fan was invited on stage to present the “Boyband of the Year Award”, a recurring feature of their concerts which, unsurprisingly, always ends up being awarded to themselves.

The most emotional moment arrived with the pairing of “Bad Omens” and “Ghost of You”, two fan favourites, before moving on to a segment in which each band member performed songs from their individual projects. From there, the act dedicated to the most emblematic songs from their first two albums began. Tracks such as “Amnesia”, “English Love Affair” and “Jet Black Heart” took the audience back to the band’s origins. The climax came with “She Looks So Perfect”, the 2014 hit that launched them to stardom, accompanied by giant inflatable balls floating across the venue, creating one of the most festive images of the night.

Before the final stretch, the band screened an emotional video featuring key moments from their career, underlining that their story with their fans is still being written. They did so in the most symbolic way: performing “Everyone’s A Star!” from among the audience, reminding everyone that the journey has always been a shared one. As a grand finale, they saved one of their biggest anthems, “Youngblood”, bringing an end to a true celebration of the band’s career.
